The Board of the Foundation is formed by five permanent members. Three of the board members form the application committee. Yearly they have two sessions, in April and September, where the project applications are reviewed and either approved or disapproved. The application committee is supported by the two other Board members: Peter van Gemert (Finance Member) and Manon van Dilgt (Communication Member).
Marc is an enthusiastic and experienced SNP tour guide who has guided more than 80 groups. Marc works for IVN nature education in his daily life. There he is involved in many projects that connect
people and nature. Marc has experience with grant processes and project applications and assessments.
As a landscape architect, he likes to dedicate himself to the Giving Back to Nature Foundation.
“I like to contribute to the detection and assessment of initiatives that contribute to nature and landscape in the beautiful areas where SNP brings its customers. A great way to underline my commitment to SNP.”
Caroline is a marine biologist, loves the sea and likes to share her enthusiasm with others. She has a job in conservation (ARK Rewilding) and has been a tour guide at SNP since 1987. Nature is inspiration for her. Talking about nature, educational activities, it’s
right up her alley. Of course, nature conservation is a priority.
For years, the Galapagos Islands and research and conservation there have been high on Caroline’s agenda. The Giving Back to Nature Foundation now gives another chance and opportunity to make a combination between the travel world and nature conservation.
”I think assessing initiatives that contribute to nature and biodiversity, preferably where SNP takes its customers, is a really fitting addition to my activities.”
Gert studied biology at Wageningen University. After his graduation he joined the SNP initiative in Nijmegen and never left. First he worked as a tourleader, guiding over 50 trips, later he became responsible for marketing and communication at SNP.
Since 2009 he is the general director and co-owner of the
company.
”We started SNP in the early days out of idealism; now, after 40 years, the circle is complete with the Giving Backto Nature Foundation, to realize and ensure positive impact on the destinations that we visit.”
Peter started his career in auditing. After 8 years of study and work he realized that he wanted to shift to the business-side and be part of and work for a company itself. A shift in working environment and study, he graduated at the university of Nyenrode in Information Management, brought him what he wished for. In the meantime he has been working in the travelindustry for over 20 years of which more than half at SNP, currently as CFO.
“I think it is necessary and great that, as a travel organization, we can contribute and “give back to nature” to help preserve the world around us for generations to come.”
Manon has been working in the travel industry for over 30 years. With a background in cultural anthropology, she has always been fascinated by different cultures and ways of life. Currently, she works as the Commercial Director at SNP Natuurreizen, where she is passionate about promoting unique active travel experiences. Outside of work, she is an enthusiastic hiker, particularly enjoying the challenge and beauty of mountain trails. She also loves engaging in other outdoor sports such as mountain biking and road cycling. Being active in nature is not just a hobby; it’s a way of life.
“It’s important that we show our customers an alternative way of traveling—how to enjoy the great outdoors while also giving something back to nature.”
