The Livanjsko Polje in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the largest temporarily flooded karst field in the world, is home to diverse habitats and rich biodiversity. EuroNatur is leading a project to restore the endangered oak forests, which are under pressure from illegal logging. This project includes planting oak seedlings and involves local communities and schools. The aim is to create awareness about forest protection while strengthening the local ecosystem. Our donation will support these vital activities and contribute to the long-term sustainability of this important natural area.
This amount will be used to plant oak seedlings, restore forests and support local initiatives for sustainable forest management.
Have donated the initial amount of 7500 euro that was doubled by SNP
With the donation, more than 2.100 seedlings will be planted for the reforestation of oak trees.
The oak forests in Livanjsko Polje are facing serious degradation due to illegal logging and habitat destruction. Therefore, a project aimed at planting new oak seedlings is being implemented with the goal of restoring biodiversity and giving back to the local community the ecosystem services these forests provide. As the project restores the forests, the positive impact on the community will increase.
The donation will be used for the protection and restoration of oak forests in the Livanjsko Polje, a unique ecosystem in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The funds will be used to plant oak seedlings in selected locations and to distribute seedlings to local residents for self-planting actions. Training sessions will also be organized for local communities and schools to raise awareness about forest management and protection. In addition, experts will document the process and disseminate important information on oak forest management.
