“We dream of a robust, resilient and future-proof heath landscape, in which biodiversity flourishes and the market idea remains alive: care for the landscape is something we do together. Through expansion, connection and cooperation with the environment, we are building a heath that is of value not only today, but also for future generations.”

of heath corridor will be restored during 2026, partly with this donation
The existing core area of the Gorsselse Heide is in order. Now we are focusing on a more robust heath through connections with other areas. In the past 2 years, we have succeeded in acquiring 2 plots of 5 and 12 ha in which there are still heather remnants. We want to restore and connect these to our core area and use them as natural stepping stones to other larger heathlands further away.
With the help of volunteers we will make part of the area more open. Among other things, by removing invasive alien species such as prunus. The existing felling area in one of the forest areas must be transformed into heathland. We want to develop a heath corridor by removing trees, sodging soil, grafting heather vegetation with clippings. We have the experience from our nature restoration plan and will apply it to these plots.

Stichting Marke Gorsselse Heide. Founded in 2008. Our mission: to ensure the sustainable preservation and restoration of the Gorsselse Heide. In doing so, we work together with surrounding areas and create connections so that insects, butterflies, reptiles and birds can move freely and nature is provided.
Over the past 15 years, this has been concentrated on nature restoration of Gorsselse Heide, which has been acquired as a neglected heathland of 100 ha. We managed to restore this following a nature restoration plan. The management takes place with volunteers and the help of farmers in the area.
