Improving the landscape of the Veluwe zoom for bees.
By sowing carefully selected mix of grains with wildflowers on the fertile soils of the Renkum’s Beekdal, Stichting Bee foundation aims to increase the biodiversity of these grainfields and make them attractive for multiple species of bees. ‘Graan Geluk’ is the name of this inspiring project where many stakeholders are involved.

Relevance for nature conservancy and biodiversity of bees
Natura 2000 areas suffer from the pollution of industrial agriculture. It is of great importance to reintroduce farming methods where natural agricultural methods, sufficient volume and quality are produced in the and native wild plants provide much-needed food for wild bees, bumblebees, bumblebees, hoverflies and butterflies. They are the buzzing heart of the ecosystem and the staple food for many other animals such as amphibians and birds.
Where is the donation of GBTN spent on?
The amount will be spend on sowing 30-50 ha of fields and monitoring, reporting, mapping recommendations and monitoring of the system. Also training to farmers, landowners and site managers will be given and meeting with consumers in the field three times.
What is the objected effect of the research program?
to create a more robust biotope for insects with connecting corridors between agriculture and Natura 2000 areas
to gain experience for the optimal combination of grain cultivation with native field herbs
to create a perennial seedbank in the soil of various field herbs
to provide education to farmers, landowners, site managers and consumers
to make an inventory of ground-nesting sites of insects and protect them
Bee Foundation brings people closer to wild bees and biodiversity, to create more bee oasis for wild bees, bumblebees and butterflies. Our strength is education and involving participants in planting and management. We share our knowledge in the bee academy with Tutoring and Refresher Training and, where necessary, the distribution of bee stings.
As a practivist citizens’ initiative, Bee Foundation offers: “Eye openers and a perspective on our connection with the bees, through which you are touched and with which you can connect, so that you become part of the development of forms of society that are in balance with the big picture of the earth.”
