Merazonia owns a reserve of 100 hectares in the transition zone from the Andes mountains
to the Amazon rainforest. This land is dedicated to forest and biodiversity conservation. To continue safeguarding the biodiversity of our region from threats such as poaching, human expansion, deforestation for livestock, and resource extraction, solid evidence remains our most powerful tool. This evidence allows us to understand what needs protecting, how best to protect it, and how to demonstrate the true value of the area to the outside world.
This amount has been used for the purchase of 8 camera trips
Have donated the initial amount of 2500 euro that was doubled by us
including batteries, SD-cards, belts, GPS devices to be used in the monitoring
Merazonia was founded to rehabilitate displaced wildlife and protect their natural habitat, yet increasing human pressures continue to threaten regional biodiversity. To respond effectively, we need strong empirical evidence that emonstrates our conservation impact and guides future interventions.
By quantifying success, we can strengthen community engagement and reinforce the importance of maintaining this landscape as a protected corridor for both resident and released wildlife.
We are aiming to expand our monitoring efforts to a broader area and with a more systematic, research-grade, set-up. Advanced monitoring provides a complete picture of the biodiversity and allows us to determine changes in species populations. Additionally, monitoring could help us track released animals and determine the success of their return to the rainforest.
To deploy camera traps across all sampling points, we can buy 8 units, allowing us to sample at least 15 locations for three-month periods at each site. Each camera trap must include a securing strap for attachment to trees, as well as protective locks for units placed in areas accessible to people.

Merazonia’s main accomplishment is the successful rehabilitation and reintroduction of endangered Amazonian wildlife, especially woolly and red howler monkeys.
Beyond releases, Merazonia demonstrates a science-based, ethical rewilding model, while protecting and monitoring rainforest habitat, creating educational programs and collaborating with other organizations.
Last but not least, we are proud of our volunteer program that gives people from around the world the opportunity to directly contribute to conservation and make a difference.
